The Certificate II and III in Applied Language (Russian) are nationally recognized qualifications under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF). These courses are designed for Year 9 and 10 students who wish to develop foundational to intermediate Russian language skills for personal, academic, or professional purposes.

These qualifications are ideal for learners who:

✔ Are aiming for intermediate proficiency (Certificate III)
✔ Need Russian for work, travel, or cultural engagement

Certificate II in Applied Language (Russian)

Level: Elementary / Pre-intermediate
Duration: 4 terms (1 academic year)
Delivery Mode: Face-to-face, classroom-based
Weekly Commitment: 4 hours in class + 1 hour homework
Practical Placement: 5 hours per term (e.g., school-based tasks)

  • NAT10949001: Conduct basic oral communication for social purposes

  • NAT10949002: Conduct basic oral communication in workplace settings

  • NAT10949003: Read and write basic documents for social purposes

  • NAT10949004: Read and write basic workplace documents

  • Expanded vocabulary for travel, work, and study

  • Ability to discuss topics like news, hobbies, and work

  • Enhanced intercultural awareness

ATAR Contribution

Students who complete a VCE VET Unit 3–4 sequence in Applied Language may receive an ATAR increment (10% of the lowest study score of the primary four VCE subjects).

     • Sundays
      - Certificate II: 9:10 AM – 1:20 PM
      - Certificate III: 1:30 PM – 5:20 PM

  • Practical Hours:
     • 5 hours per term (e.g., assisting teachers, admin tasks)
